Returning / Unassigning Equipment

Use this workflow when an employee leaves, changes role, or returns a device — moving it back to the Asset Pool for future reassignment.

Go to Assets in the top navigation. Search by the employee’s name in the Assigned To column, or search by asset name or ID.


Click the Asset ID (e.g. HW-00009) to open the full asset record.


In the Assignment section, change Assign to Employee to:

— Unassigned (Asset Pool) —

Also clear or update the Location field if relevant.


Save the changes. The system will:

  1. Remove the employee link from the asset
  2. Set status back to Unassigned
  3. Move the asset back into the Asset Pool
  4. Record an update event in the Activity Log
