Returning / Unassigning Equipment
Use this workflow when an employee leaves, changes role, or returns a device — moving it back to the Asset Pool for future reassignment.

Section titled “Step-by-Step”Step 1 — Find the Asset
Section titled “Step 1 — Find the Asset”Go to Assets in the top navigation. Search by the employee’s name in the Assigned To column, or search by asset name or ID.
Step 2 — Open the Asset Detail
Section titled “Step 2 — Open the Asset Detail”Click the Asset ID (e.g. HW-00009) to open the full asset record.
Step 3 — Update the Assignment
Section titled “Step 3 — Update the Assignment”In the Assignment section, change Assign to Employee to:
— Unassigned (Asset Pool) —
Also clear or update the Location field if relevant.
Step 4 — Save
Section titled “Step 4 — Save”Save the changes. The system will:
- Remove the employee link from the asset
- Set status back to
Unassigned - Move the asset back into the Asset Pool
- Record an update event in the Activity Log
After Returning
